Blessed Mary's Son
Blessed Mary's Son
In isolation, an angel appeared to Mary to proclaim her life's mission: she would be the mother to the Son of God. Luke 1: 38 records, “And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.”
Mary would be accused of sins she did not commit. Yet, true to her word, she submitted her will to the will of the Father.
In isolation, Jesus received His life's mission and was directed to save mankind. Christ would also be accused of sins He did not commit. He sought the Father’s will in all things, in both word and deed.
Mary, who held the newborn babe in her arms, would later hold the slain Lord in those same arms. Tears once borne from joy would turn to sorrow. Her grief must have felt as though it would never end. Yet, three days after what could only have been the longest darkness of Mary’s life, that seemingly unyielding grief was crushed as Jesus Christ conquered death and hell. The Light of the world fills the hearts of the children of men with a certain hope of a new and everlasting life.
