Let Earth Receive Her King

In 2005 I moved my young family to Anchorage, Alaska. At the time I was an active duty Airman in the United States Air Force. The winter months were long and dark, so I looked forward to the chance of catching a glimpse of the aurora borealis, or the northern lights. 

One evening as I was studying about this natural phenomenon, I came across an interesting fact. I read that the largest display of the northern lights in recorded history occurred just 5 years earlier on April 6th, 2000.

I sat in awe.

Modern Prophets have revealed that Christ was not born on December 25th, but on April 6th.

This meant that in celebration of Christ’s 2,000th birthday, nature itself could not contain its joy! The heavens put on a celebratory light show for the ages.

“Let Earth Receive Her King” depicts the hours prior to Christ’s birth. We read in the book of Luke of the new star and the heavenly choirs. We don’t have a record of the aurora borealis making an appearance, but I can’t help but imagine a vivid display of the northern lights on the first Christmas.
